Robin Li: It is expected to experience Baidu smart cars within 2-3 years

On July 8, Baidu founder Robin Li said at the 2021 World Artificial Intelligence Conference that future smart cars will be more like robots, or that mainstream robots will look more like smart cars in the future. It is also worth noting that he mentioned that Baidu’s smart car is being developed, and it is expected that in 2-3 years, everyone can experience a car that is more like a robot.
At the beginning of 2021, Baidu officially announced the establishment of a smart car company to enter the automotive industry as a vehicle manufacturer. Geely Holding Group will become a strategic partner of the new company.

As we all know, Baidu is an early technology company involved in autonomous driving and intelligent automotive technology. As early as 2017, Baidu released the Apollo autonomous driving plan, which aims to provide an open, complete and secure software platform to partners in the automotive industry and autonomous driving.
Last month, Baidu just launched the Apollo Moon, a new generation of mass-produced shared self-driving cars, with the goal of making travel cheaper than current ride-hailing vehicles. It is reported that Apollo Moon is based on the Polar Fox Alpha T. It adopts the “ANP-Robotaxi” architecture, and is equipped with a Hesai Technology customized lidar, as well as 13 cameras and 5 millimeter-wave radar-based lightweight design solutions. The cost of the whole vehicle is 480,000 yuan, which is one-third of the average cost of the current L4-level self-driving mass-produced models.
At the conference, Robin Li said that in the next two to three years, Baidu plans to expand the service of sharing unmanned vehicles to 30 cities across the country to serve a wider range of users.
