Denso deploys Siemens software portfolio to drive digital transformation of automotive product design
DENSO Corporation, a world-renowned auto parts manufacturer, uses Siemens software solutions to build the technological foundation for its next-generation Model-Based Development (MBD). Through model-based simulation, Denso is able to solve existing problems and explore more design possibilities early in the process and before building physical models. The new process is expected to reduce the time required for product development, reduce costs, improve design quality, and enhance corporate competitiveness.
Siemens will support the project with a range of services including process consulting, piloting at the design site and establishing a modeling process. By using the Simcenter™ portfolio of simulation and test application solutions, DENSO continues to perform system simulation during the development process. Simcenter solutions also help Denso designers perform 1D system simulations with expert analysts, while Siemens’ Teamcenter® The software enables seamless distribution of model data between different sites around the world.
“Siemens’ high-quality software products, consulting and technical services have made our three-year MBD pilot project a great success,” said Masaki Suzuoki, general manager of the MBD Promotion Department, Engineering Digital Transformation Promotion Division, Denso Corporation. Full company-wide deployment, and we look forward to Siemens providing us with additional support to help us accelerate the deployment of MBD across our business areas.”
The automotive industry is in a period of once-in-a-century transformation and change. Denso is committed to creating value at the vehicle and sub-system level, and this long-term strategy can improve its business growth rate and profitability. The added value that Denso can provide includes electrification and the implementation of advanced safety and autonomous driving technologies. To achieve these goals, Denso has begun deploying MBD company-wide. Siemens’ MBD solutions have achieved excellent results to date and are widely adopted by OEMs around the world.
Denso is one of Siemens’ long-term partners in the development of Siemens software, including NX™ software. The reason why DENSO also chose Siemens in this project is mainly considering that Siemens’ product development method and its culture can bring practical benefits to DENSO. The two parties collaborate on developing solutions based on a highly aligned development strategy; Siemens implements Denso’s MBD requirements as a standard feature of its solutions. Currently, DENSO is conducting trials in various fields, including its main business areas of thermal systems, power systems and electrification. Implementing these standard functions not only creates value for DENSO, but also benefits all companies implementing MBD, including those in the automotive industry.
Tony Hemmelgarn, President and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Software, said: “We are honored to partner with DENSO to drive the development of next-generation MBD products and help transform their business. We would like to thank DENSO and other automotive companies around the world for their tremendous support. Trust and choose to use Siemens software and services to advance their digital transformation, improve operational efficiency and profitability.”
